The handsome 57-story Neo-Gothic Woolworth Building, located in New York's Tribeca nabe, was the tallest building in the world from its completion in 1913 to 1930. It was built at a cost of $13.5 million, paid in cash. This image showing the iconic peak poking through clouds, is from 1928. In modern times, it was the base of "Ugly Betty's"Mode magazine.
